Yoga Nidra Session at The Georgian

Come to experience deep rest!
No physical movement required!
Yoga Nidra is a deeply relaxing form of meditation done laying down for our wellbeing. This is not a yoga class.

WHAT IS YOGA NIDRA?:Yoga Nidra means yogic sleep. It is an ancient form of meditation done laying down usually on your back where you enter a deeper state of conscious relaxation, between awake and sleep, the liminal edges of your mind. I will guide you through the practice, your physical body relaxes whilst your mind is awake and you experience different states of consciousness.

There are many benefits of yoga nidra from calming the nervous system, reducing anxiety and stress, providing deep relaxation to enable the body to function more efficiently, improving sleep, reducing tension and pain, enhancing cognition and memory, boosting energy levels and calming hormones, overall improving your wellbeing and giving yourself time to experience deep rest!

WHAT TO BRING:
Enough bedding to "make a nest of rest" where you will feel comfortable laying on the ground for the practice.
- Yoga mat and duvet to lay on
- Cushions for under their knees and head
- Blanket for on top
- Wear comfy clothes, maybe cosy socks
- Bottle water to stay hydrated.
- People can do it sitting up if they prefer, maybe using a cushion to sit on and the wall to support their back.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE SESSION:We will all settle ourselves and get comfortable. I will then lead us with two Yoga Nidras, the first will be a shorter one, we will have a break then go into the longer one. I may incorporate some sounds. We will then, from 8pm have some time after to ground. where you will then have a choice of a smoothie and either:

  • Garlic and Herb Pizzetta (plant based) OR
  • Zucchini Fritti (plant based) (these are included in the price)

COUGHS & COLDS: Please do not come if you have coughs and colds that you could share to others. If you have a little tickle that is not contagious then a cough here or there is OK, but could be distracting if continuous.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Group Yoga Nidra sessions are not suitable for people with severe depression, severe trauma and severe mental health conditions.
