Wondering what all the fuss is about? Try a river dip with our resident Wild Swim Instructor and enjoy a sauna or steam.
About this event
Open Water or Wild Swimming is a rapidly growing activity in the UK, with many praising the mental & physical health benefits of the sport, especially in cold water. But how safe is it? How do you start? And where should you swim?
This Introduction to Cold Water Swimming class teaches you all of this and more. We will look at how to find a safe swim spot. Entry & exit, technique, kit recommendations, swim etiquette, water safety, how to prepare for a cold dip and how to warm afterwards. And of course, we will enjoy a short dip together, in the beautiful stretch of Thames in front of The Swan, followed by a de-brief over a hot drink.
You are in safe hands with Jo; she’s been open water swimming since she was 12, has swum the English Channel not once but twice and has a clutch of swimming awards and qualifications including Level 2 Open Water Swim Coach and Swim England Swim Teacher. Jo loves swimming and her enthusiasm is contagious – whether this is your first time in the river, or you are practised and looking for advice, Jo can help.
